Battle in the Bayou

In approximately 3 weeks time, four of the UK’s fastest street legal cars will embark on an epic journey across the Atlantic. The idea is to take on the might of the USA and Canada in the “World Street Race”. Four cars from each country will do battle over the ¼ mile for the title of Worlds fastest street legal car.

The rules are simple.Cars will have to run a spec 100 octane unleaded fuel,a block treaded tire, comply with UK road regulations and they will all have to complete a 30 mile road cruise. The 4 UK cars are Steve Pateman’s Vauxhall Calibra, Ian Hook’s 1934 Ford Coupe, Jeff Meads 1953 Ford Popular and Andy Frost’s 1972 Vauxhall VX4/90 FD.

Of course these are no ordinary cars as they are far and away the fastest road legal cars in Europe.Try 0-60mph in under 2 secs and ¼ mile times in the mid to low 8sec zone with speeds of 170mph plus…...

The race itself is being held at No Problem Raceway in Louisiana on the 12th/13th March 2005 which is the best track in the southern USA.With an expected 10,000 crowd there is bound to be plenty of vocal support.though obviously the fans will be mostly home supporters. There will however be a small British and Canadian contingent of fans cheering the away sides every pass down the track.

If you are interested in coming to support the team then contact Andy Frost for travel details on redvictor1@hotmail.com

Of course the racers couldn’t have undertaken such a huge logistical exercise with out the help of a great many people and the support of a lot of companies in the UK and USA.
