Noted IHRA Top Sportsman and PMRA Pro Mod racer Joe Boniferro recently went testing for the first time in 2006 and Speed Channel was there to record it. The Smokin’ Joe’s Racing team arrived early Monday morning at one of Canada’s premier racetracks, Toronto Motorsports Park to film the segment which will be featured on Sports Car Revolution in early May. Currently in its third season of production SCR had never before featured drag racing with a car as powerful as Boniferro’s. This led to some tense moments as the in-car camera gear was strapped into the passenger side of the Joe’s Transmission Dodge Avenger. The SCR team did not know how the cameras would handle the vibration and shaking associated with a Pro Mod but they passed with flying colors. Boniferro made two runs for the cameras and also gained some valuable data on updates the Niagara Falls, ON, based team had made over the winter. This is not the first time Boniferro has been in front of the camera, at the 2005 Canadian Fastest Street Car Shootout he was featured on Jimmy Biggs Your Way Network which can be seen by anyone with an Internet connection.

The Sports Car Revolution segment can be seen on Wednesday May 10 at 7:30 pm, May 11 at 7:30 am and May 13 at 10:00 am. The shows will then be repeated through the year at thirteen week intervals.

The Smokin’ Joe’s Racing team will compete on the full PMRA tour and in selected IHRA National events in 2006. Their aim is to lower their personal best E.T. of 6.41 and win some races along the way.
