Niagara
Falls, ON - For immediate release -
The first
ever PMRA event was an enjoyable event for Joe Boniferro
and the Smokin'
Joe's Racing team out of Niagara Falls. ON.
IHRA Top Sportsman standout, Boniferro picked up the Bear's
Consistent Qualifier Award at Toronto Motorsports Park after
slotting
into second
position
in the first qualifier with a 6.480 pass. The second round
saw Boniferro run slightly slower in the 6.50 zone. Although
this dropped him to fourth on the timesheets the two passes
were the most consistent in the thirteen-car field and handed
Joe the first Bear's Consistent Qualifier Award of the series.
Boniferro stated 'To qualify fourth on our first time out in
2005 against guys like these is OK. Everyone in front of us
has won IHRA National events and a couple of them have been
World Champions, that’s pretty good company to keep.
I was real happy about winning the award, we always tend to
run consistently, I hope to take more of Larry O'Brien's money
before the year is out.'
Although
he was taken out in the first round by fellow Mopar racer
Terry Brown when a $2 part failed on the throttle cable.
Boniferro was happy with his first outing of the year. 'This
was a good outing for the Koffel's Place backed team, everything
looks good for the future and we are ready to hit some IHRA
National events.'
Joe Boniferro
would like to thank Larry and the guys at Bear's Performance
Products for putting together the Consistent Qualifier Award, his major sponsors, Koffel's Place,
Pennzoil and Joe's Transmission along with associate sponsors
